Such is the claim of a research study, jointly financed by BP Amoco and Shell oil, released yesterday. The study estimates the force generated by a north-south line of windmills spanning the center of the U.S., and via a very complex set of calculations, comes to a stunning conclusion. “We see 2 scenarios, based on the nature and variation of the wind”, stated the lead researcher. “Most likely, that the earth stops spinning and simply remains stationary, or, less likely, that the gyroscopic force induced by the windmills will cause the earth to begin spinning in a northerly-southerly direction instead of the present east-west direction. Either option is of course unacceptable and represents a severe problem with the Pickens plan.”
The report goes on to recommend that we continue on our present course, regardless of how high oil prices may rise.
