Loving husband prefers wife comatose

45-year old Michael Horgan was at first devastated after his wife's horrible accident. "I just couldn't cope at first" comments Michael. "When I got that call from the hospital that there had been a car accident, I assumed the worst. My dear sweet Jessica, I couldn't imagine life without her." Unfortunately for Michael though, the accident was serious and Jessica was in bad shape. "She was all connected to hoses and tubes, IV's, machines beeping left and right. It was terrible," remembers Michael. "I thought for sure I was going to lose her."
As hours turned into days and days into weeks, Michael realized Jessica probably wasn't coming out of it and would remain comatose for the foreseeable future. "Sure, taking care of the kids was hard at first," comments Michael, "But eventually I adapted, developed a routine. It wasn't so bad."
Now Michael somewhat ashamedly admits he's getting to like it the way things are. "I wouldn't say this if I thought she'd hear, but she was kind of a bitch at times. In fact, pretty much at most times. Life at home is quite a bit more peaceful without her yelling and nagging."
Michael says he'll sometimes awaken from a dream where the accident never happened, and be in a state of panic until he realizes it was just a dream. "Yeah, those are tough," says Michael. "I'll wake up thinking I hear her bitching at me about something I did wrong, my heart beating a hundred miles an hour. Thankfully those dreams are happening less frequently now."
